Obituary for Amy Margaret Burrows (Gilmour)

Peacefully at Health Sciences North, Sudbury on Sunday, March 21, 2021, Amy Margaret Burrows (nee Gilmour) of Coleman Township passed away at the age of 73. Loving wife of Robert Burrows for 54 years. Born in Coleman Township June 6, 1947, beloved mother of Steven Burrows, James Burrows (Lou-Ann Kelly), Andrew Burrows, Suzanna Laurin (Roger). Survived by her grandchildren Krystal, Kayla, Evan, Nathan, Ryan, Tiffany, Anna and great grandchildren Melody and Harrison. Dear sister of Joseph Gilmour (Erma Spencer), Hazel Burrows and Benjamin Gilmour (Nancy Fox). Predeceased by her parents Frank and Alice Gilmour, her sister Shirley Seed, brothers in-law Melven Burrows, John Burrows, Arthur Seed and sister in-law Lucy Ryan. Amy was a generous, kind, thoughtful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and dear friend of many. She made everyone that knew her feel like family. Amy grew up in mileage 104, attended school in Haileybury, was an active lifetime member of the Salvation Army, worked at Northern Telephone, got married and lived in North Cobalt with her husband and raised 4 children. Amy graduated from hairdressing school in North Bay, worked as a hairdresser at His & Hers in the Temiskaming Square until her and Robert purchased the hunting and fishing resort on the Montreal River. Owning and operating Barr Woods Resort for 18 years Amy continued hairdressing until semi-retirement and selling the resort. Not ready for full retirement yet, Amy worked at Giant Tiger in New Liskeard for a number of years. Living and working in the Tri-Town’s area her entire life, Amy befriended countless friends, co-workers, clients, vacationers, suppliers and associate resort owners. Amy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium, Haileybury. Arrangements entrusted to Buffam Leveille Funeral Home, 705-672-3122.
