Obituary for Arvid August Jerome Olson

Peacefully, following a brief, but valiant, battle with cancer, went to be with the Lord on April 4th, 2022 at Temiskaming District Hospital. He was 58 years old. Arvid was born in New Liskeard on December 12th, 1963, to the late Arnold and Mary (Veley) Olson. Arvid's inquisitive mind and love of learning showed up early. He loved to figure out new and improved ways of doing things. His love of perfecting or tweaking things stayed with him all of his life. What he learned, he loved to share, as his many students and fellow instructors at the 5th Wheel Training Institute will attest. He loved to learn. He loved to instruct. But most of all, he loved his students, and they loved him back. It was evident in the many calls and messages he received in the last 5 months. Arvid was predeceased by his mom and dad, a sister MaryAnna, and a nephew Ashton Kurlek. As much as Arvid loved his work family and students, nothing could outshine his love for his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kristina and Arvid Jr. (mother, Helen Olson) and forever loved and missed by his girlfriend Pam Mathers and her son, Ryan Brown. Arvid was also part of a large family. They will dearly miss his smile and love of life - Blenda Olson, Pam Papadakos, Susan (Peter) Kurlek, Pat (Paul) Morgan, Arnold (Shani) Olson, and Paul Olson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Arvid was blessed with many friends, both old and new. He appreciated each message, call, song, visit, video chat, and knowing that so many were upholding him in prayer these last few months. Cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium, Haileybury. The family will welcome friends at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home, 705-672-3122 on Thursday, April 7th, from 6 to 9 pm. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 8th at 1:00 pm from the Temiskaming Pentecostal Church with Pastor Nick Kostyc officiating. Memorial contributions to Temiskaming Pentecostal Church, the Gideons, or Community Cancer Care will be gratefully acknowledged. Online Condolences accepted at www.buffamleveille.com
