Obituary for Beatrice Maloney (Gauvreau)

It is with profound sorrow that the family announces the passing of Bea Maloney (Beatrice Gauvreau) on Sunday, October 23, 2022 surrounded by her children and her husband of 59 years.

Bea was born on April 7, 1941 in Haileybury, Ontario to John and Yvonne Gauvreau. She was the devoted wife to Dennis Maloney and cherished mother of Kathie (Martin Cook), Angie (Dave Ladouceur) Martin (Christine Lefebvre), Lori (Marc Hurtubise) and Tricia (Deryk Briscoe). Her grandchildren – Christopher and Katelyn Cook, Jonathon and Jessica Ladouceur, Candice and Melissa Maloney and Sean and Ethan Hurtubise and great grandson Jesse Martin Henri meant the world to her and she never missed an opportunity to let them know how much joy they brought to her life.

Bea is predeceased by her brothers and sisters Jerome, Hector, Leona, Elmer, Pauline, Vernon, Claudette, Ray and Denis. She will be sadly missed by her siblings Roddy, Ronald, Marjorie, Annette, Corinne, Carmen, Nelson, Gino and her many nieces and nephews.

Bea will be forever remembered by her husband, children and grandchildren for her fierce love, her determination, her devotion and her courage. Friends and coworkers will also remember Bea for her kindness and sense of humour, but most importantly, for the care and compassion she showed to so many residents throughout her twenty-five years working as a Health Care Aide at the Temiskaming Lodge in Haileybury.

The family would like to thank everyone who supported Bea through her cancer journey. They would especially like to thank Dr. Luison, Dr. Pearce, Dr. Emack, Dr. Roedde and Dr. Scott for their constant encouragement and compassionate care.

As per her wishes, Bea’s final care has been entrusted to the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place and immediate and extended family will come together for a Celebration of Life at a later date. Expressions of sympathy can be made in Bea’s honour to the Temiskaming Hospital Foundation - Care Close to Home or the Northeast Cancer Care Centre of Health Sciences North.
