Obituary for Bertha Gladys McVittie (Males)

The family announces with sorrow the peaceful passing of Mrs Bertha McVittie at the age of 90 years. Mrs McVittie died at the Temiskaming Hospital on Thursday December 8, 2022 with her loving family by her side.

She was born on August 1, 1932 in New Liskeard to the late Gordon and Gladys Males. Mrs McVittie will be remembered for her love of baking, playing cards and going for car rides. But most importantly she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Her family was everything to her and she would look forward to any time spent with them. Her presence will sorely be missed.

Mrs McVitttie is predeceased by her parents, by her husband Donald McVittie, by her daughter Sandra Héroux and by her siblings Gordon, Donald, Robert, Dorothy, Betty and Audrey. She is survived by her loving children Daniel and his wife Susan McVittie, Katherine (late Kim) Sauve, Douglas and his wife Tracey McVittie, Bob and his wife Darlene McVittie and by her son-in-law Robert Héroux. Mrs McVittie is the cherished grandmother of Scott (Mark Baker), Jennifer (David) Brown, Kevin (Jessica Plante), Aimee (Ashley) Spencer, Joel (Jessie) Héroux, Teri (Mathieu) Sansoucy, Ashley (Pierre) Pichette, Brandi (Jason) Holeksa, Jessica (Pat) Trudel, Taylor McVittie, Jordan (Josh) Dubois, Jeremy (Simone Roblot); great-grandmother of Mackenzie, Landon, Lacey, Allie, Ashtyn, Addyson, Jeremy (Emma), Kaden, Daxx, Camdon, Bryce, Easton, Paisley, Tate, Rylee, Colson and Philippe. Also surviving is her brother Lloyd and his wife Linda Males as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Mrs McVittie's final care has been entrusted to Buffam Leveille Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Haileybury Golf Club [800 Latchford Street, Haileybury, ON P0J 1K0] Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
