Obituary for Desneiges Marie Lajoie (Bélanger)

Lajoie, Desneiges Marie [Bélanger] - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Desneiges Lajoie (Bélanger) on Thursday September 3, 2020 surrounded by her family at St. Gabriel Villa in Chelmsford.

In her 78th year, Desneiges leaves behind her son Jean-Pierre (Cathy), her daughter Nathalie (Enzo) along with her three granddaughters who she cherished greatly; Alexandra, Ashley (Cliten) and Lindsay.

Desneiges was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, André Lajoie ( 2014). Together they started out their lives in Gowganda, Ontario followed by Temagami and lastly in Haileybury for over 42 years. She has now gained her angel wings and changed her "address" as she rejoins her husband André, her parents Télesphore Bélanger and Marie Gingras and by her many and many brothers and sisters, her in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends who have gained their eternal life.

Desneiges was a dedicated grade school teacher by trade. She obtained her Bachelors Degree from Laurentian University in Sudbury. She taught for over 28 years, predominantly in New Liskeard at École Sacré Coeur. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, canning preserves, baking homemade bread, gardening and certainly had a passion for home decor, fashion and loved to shop. She also enjoyed camping, playing cards and admiring birds, sunsets and the water. She was a devoted member of the Holy Cross Parish.

One of her biggest assets was her bright blue eyes and brilliant smile, matched with her contagious laugh. She enjoyed being around people and loved to travel to see family and friends. She also felt the most accomplished when teaching her students ranging from JK to Grade 5 especially teaching Grade 2.

She was the youngest of fourteen children, born and raised in Laverlochère, PQ, until she married André in June of 1963. They then moved to Ontario to start their careers and family.

Cremation has taken place at Lakeview crematorium, Haileybury. Mrs Lajoie's family will receive family and friends at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home on Friday September 18 from 2:00 - 4:00 and from 7:00 - 9:00pm and again on Saturday September 19, 2020 from 9:30 - 10:30am.
