Obituary for Donald "Flash" Savoie

With deep sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Donald 'Flash' Savoie at the age of 62 years. Donald passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 at the Englehart and District Hospital following a severe stroke.

He was born on December 5, 1960 in Englehart to the late Eugène Savoie and to the late Marguerite Ménard. Donald lived in Earlton for all of his life and worked at Nor-Arc as a crane operator. Many will remember Donald as a quiet and gentle man with a heart of gold always putting the needs of others before his own. Donald was a loving son, father, brother and favourite uncle to many of his nieces and nephews. His presence will sorely be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him. Donald was a volunteer firefighter for 28 years with the Earlton Fire Department. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed the trails, fishing, hunting and camping with his numerous friends and family members.

He is survived by his daughters Kimberly Anne Sears (Rachelle), Kayla Charland (René), his brothers and sister: Marcel (Nancy), Yvon (Jocelyne), Michel (Suzanne), Colette (Michel), Paul (Réjeanne) and André (Gisèle). Donald is also survived by his three grandchildren, fourteen nieces and nephews and many extended family members.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Englehart and District Hospital for the exceptional care Donald received during his stay there. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.

The family of the late Donald Savoie will receive family and friends at Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church Earlton, on Friday January 13, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm and again on Saturday January 14, 2023 beginning at 10:00am. The memorial mass will follow in the church at 11:00am. As an expression of sympathy, contributions in Donald’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Palliative Care Suite of the Englehart Hospital.
