Obituary for Douglas John Winter

Winter, Douglas John - With deep sadness the family announces the death of Douglas Winter at the age of 66 years. Doug passed away peacefully at the Temiskaming Hospital in New Liskeard on Friday, September 04, 2020 with his loving family by his side.

Born on May 4, 1954 in Vermilion, Alberta, Doug moved to Haileybury where he lived for most of his adult life. He is greatly loved and missed by his spouse Nicole (Nicky) Desmarais; children Jennifer Plotnikoff (Danny Cherry), Nathan Winter
(Shannon Davies), Natalie Girard (Dave Heppenstall), Natasha Winter (Rodrigo Naranjo), Serge Girard, and Justin Winter. He is fondly remembered by his grandchildren Paige, Hailey, Erika, Liam, and Lucy. He is survived by his mother Marguerite Winter and pre-deceased by his stepfather John Leland Younger; survived by his siblings Joe (Gwen) Winter, Maurice (Colleen) Winter, Richie Winter, Jamie (Rose) Winter, Jeanie (Craig) Winter, and half-brother Bill (Kay) Donald; his Aunt Genevieve and Uncle Robert Weder, and Aunt Lillian Ziegler; his nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Predeceased by his biological father Peter Winter.

Many knew Doug through his business, Northside Electric. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and building his hunting camp. His greatest passion in life was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren who meant everything to him. Doug is remembered as a devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.

Doug will be forever remembered and forever loved.

A brief visitation period will be held at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home on Saturday September 12, 2020 from 1:00 - 2:00pm. IN KEEPING WITH THE COVID-19 PROVINCIAL REGULATIONS, A TOTAL NUMBER OF 5 PEOPLE WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE FUNERAL HOME AT THE SAME TIME. FUNERAL HOME STAFF MUST RECORD YOUR NAMES AND TIME. THEREFORE PLEASE CALL THE FUNERAL HOME (705-672-3122) TO RESERVE YOUR ALLOTTED TIME. WE WILL INFORM YOU AS TO THE NEW VISITATION PROCEDURE.
