Obituary for Fortunat "Fort" Charland

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fortunat (Fort) Charland on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022.
Fort was born on September 18 th ,1943 and lived most of his life in Thornloe, Ontario. He had a passion for music and played with the Bob Scott Band for many years. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and camping.

He was predeceased by his first wife Suzanne (Lapointe). He will be sadly missed by his children Simon (Linda), Léo (Dinah), Louis (Sandy) and Josée (Dwaine). He was proud grandfather to Amanda, Rene (Kayla), Danielle, Dominique, Alanah, Francis, Toni, Danika, Emmerson, Adelynn and his great-grandchildren Libby, Nolan, Alexia, Harmony and Karter.

Fort was predeceased by his father René and mother Aline, his sisters Irène (Victor Legault), Lucille (Robert Scott), Emma (Maurice Boudrias), and Yvonne (Rhéal Gélinas). He is survived by his sisters Jeannine (John Hetherington), Hélèna (Jean-Paul Rivard), his brothers Julien (Jeanne d’Arc Benoit), Normand (Dina Oukes), and Marcel (Pauline Grisé). He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his second wife Bonnie (Little) and her children Roy, Jeff (Elisa), Karen, and Rob (Trish) and grandchildren Daniel, Emmett, Kendall, Jack, Lily and Rowen.

The family wishes to thank Doctor Wilson, the caring nurses and PSW’s of the Temiskaming Hospital. In keeping with Fort’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held in the spring.Memorial contributions in Fort’s name can be made to a charity of your choice.
