Obituary for Gordon Byers
Byers, William Gordon - With profound sadness the family announces the passing of Mr Gordon Byers of Belle Vallee at the age of 75 years. Mr Byers passed away peacefully at the Temiskaming Hospital, on Saturday November 14, 2020.
Born in Toronto on August 27, 1945 to the late John Byers and to the late Lillian Reesor, Mr Byers was owner and operator of several nursing homes throughout Canada. He will be remembered for his love of music and singing in church. He will also be remembered for his selflessness always putting the needs others before his own. His greatest joy was any time spent with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His infectious smile and happy nature will sorely be missed by all those whose life he touched.
Gord is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Sandra [nee Garbutt], his three sons William Gordon Jr. 'Bill' and his wife Holly Byers, Richard Byers and Chris and his wife Jennifer Byers. Cherished grandfather of William (Melissa), Bethany (Chris), Scott (Estella), Bradon (Amber), Brett (Jing), Carter (Julia), Noah, Sarah, Amira; great-grandfather to Autumn, Hayden and William. Also surviving is his brother Ron and his wife Lois Byers as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Gord is predeceased by his parents, his brother Jack, his sister Patricia and by his great-grandson Liam Byers.
In keeping with Gord's wishes, cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium, Haileybury. A memorial service will be held at the Temiskaming Pentecostal Church, Haileybury, on Saturday November 21, 2020 at 1:00pm. Pastor Nicholas Kostyc officiating. THE MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE LIVE STREAMED ON FACEBOOK AT THE TEMISKAMING CHURCH'S SITE.
