Dunn, Gregory Clarence –
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Greg Dunn at the age of 68 years.
Born in Englehart to the late Clayton Dunn and Charlotte (Ruth) Steuernol, Greg is survived by his mother Ruth Dunn, his wife and good friend Jan Gilbert, his older brother Gary, and sister-in-law Joan Dunn. Greg is predeceased by his younger brother Murray. Greg will be fondly remembered by his family members and numerous friends. He will forever be treasured for his happy disposition, big heart, thoughtfulness and generous spirit.
Greg had a great love of nature and devoted his life to creating, restoring and protecting wetlands. In the mid 1980’s he donated property to develop Casey Marsh, it was Ducks Unlimited first created wetland in Northern Ontario. A stipulation of the donation was that the marsh be closed to hunting and remain a nature preserve in perpetuity. Greg was extremely proud of this achievement and considered it to be a meaningful legacy.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium, Haileybury. There will no visitations or funeral service at this time. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy contributions in Greg's memory can be made to Duck's Unlimited Canada [PO Box 1160 Stonewall, Manitoba R0C 2Z0], Birds Studies Canada [PO Box 160 Port Rowan, ON, N0E 1M0] or to the Brentwood Recovery Home [2335 Dougall Ave. Windsor, ON, N8X 1S9].
