Obituary for James Harvey Lathem

James Harvey Lathem
James Lathem passed away on February 12, 2020 at 85 years old. Born on September 23, 1934 in Swastika to Charlie & Olive Lathem. Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years, Yvette, his three children Dennis (Jo Ann), Larry (Darlene), Jennifer (Allan), his grandchildren, Cassandra (Richard), Jaymie (Shea), Matthew (Johanna), Craig (Karen) and his great grandchildren Madix, Pearl, Grace, Harrison and Rosie. He will be fondly remembered by his brother-in-law Allan (Jean) who was like his little brother. He is pre-deceased by his sister Helen and survived by his brothers Doug (Elona), Bill (Lorraine) and Murray (Laurie). Jim was an avid fisherman, he loved his time out on his boat, not always catching a lot, but enjoying being with Allan, Craig and Doug. He loved equipment and started James Lathem Excavating buying his first piece of equipment in 1955. There wasn't a piece of equipment that he couldn't operate. He will be sadly missed by his family, big smile, huge bear hugs and always an 'I love you' when he said good-bye. There will be no service as per his wishes, a Celebration of Life will take place in the Spring. In lieu of any flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Temiskaming Hospital Foundation - Care Close to Home.
