Jeannie Hoselton grew up in Cobourg, Ontario as the youngest of seven children. Hazel Hawley and Charles Hoselton created a loving home filled with music, good food and always some extra folks around the dinner table or singing at the piano.
Jean followed in her Mother's path and trained at Kingston General Hospital where her decades-long career of caring for others began. She cared for thousands of people as a Registered Nurse - from preemies in intensive care to Long Term Care residents and palliative patients as a Case Manager in Community Care.
Kingston is also where Jean met a handsome young Albertan and fell in love. Jim and Jean were married in Cobourg and have spent the rest of their lives/more than 60 years together. They raised their family in Haileybury and retired to Peterborough. They have cottaged, entertained, traveled the world, and enjoyed winters in Marco Island, but family was the most important part of Jean's life.
Jean was the most kind, caring, generous and giving mother to Peter, Lynda, Susan and Rosalie. She brought boundless energy, a keen sense of humour, compassion and understanding into each of our lives. She loved us each in unique ways, she encouraged us to grow and learn, and most importantly, to be loving people. Jean welcomed our spouses; Terry, David, Mike, Jeff, Janet and Doug into our family with joy. Her seven grandchildren; Ben, Jeff, Nick, Dario, Katie, Sofia and Julia have wonderful memories of stories, games and contests, cookie decorating marathons, egg hunts, concerts...
Mother loved nothing more than to have everyone together for a good meal, plenty of her delicious baking, and lots of laughter. Jean loved to be active and she enjoyed swimming and diving at the cottage, cross-country skiing, even winning her age category in the annual Harry's Spring 5km Run when she was 83. She loved music, playing the piano and she sang in many choirs, including the Peterborough Jubilaires. She instilled a love of nature in her family, marveling at the beauty of a sunset, the early spring flowers or the feeling of sunshine on a warm summer day.
Jean was lovingly cared for by Rosie and Jeff in Haileybury until she took her leave on April 30, 2023. Her light will remain with us all and forever guide us.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated. A family tribute will be held at a later date. Condolences and tributes may be left at www.buffamleveille.com
