Obituary for John "Jack" Perrault

Perrault, John "Jack"- With his family by his side, Jack passed away peacefully at the New Liskeard Hospital on 22nd November 2021. Lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Darlene; his son Scott and grandson Brett; his daughter Shauna Waddell, son-in-law Steven and grandchildren Nathaniel and Rebekah. He will be dearly missed by his brothers George, Bert, Stan and Joe and his sisters Ann and Mary and their families. Jack was predeceased by his parents Claire and Cecilia, his brother Gene and sister Marg.

Jack was born 22 June, 1943. He lived the first part of his life in Sheenboro Quebec and it was forever 'home' in his heart. Jack was a proud veteran, having served in the Army from 1960 to 1964 which included a deployment to Germany during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was honoured to be able to serve as Sergeant-at-Arms for Branch 54. Jack was a miner - this brought him to Sudbury and Temagami, settling in Haileybury. Jack was a fisherman, a handy-man, a 'Jack'-of-all-trades, and was always there to do his part. His strength and fast paced step is something everyone will remember.

Some of Jack's favourite memories include his trip to Vimy Ridge for its 90th Anniversary, and a trip to Normandy to see the beaches and war graves. He was also fortunate to travel to Holland on two separate occasions, once with Darlene and the other with his good friend Chris Oslund to view military parades and war memorials. A highlight occurred in 2005, when Jack had the thrill of a lifetime to sail on board HMCS Winnipeg from Hawaii back to Victoria BC with his son-in-law Steve who was the warship's second-in-command at the time. Though he was passionate about the military, his real joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

We want to thank Dr. Smith and his Haileybury Family Health Team, including Dr. Pretty for their compassion and care. We have been surrounded by so many family and friends from near and far, virtually and in person, and we want you to know that we appreciate each and everyone of you. Your words and support have brought us great comfort.
