Obituary for Marie-Paule Delisle (Levesque)

Marie-Paule was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left this world suddenly in the loving arms of her beloved husband Yvon on June 25th, 2022 at the age of 85.

Marie-Paule was born on February 26th 1937 to her parents Xavier Lévesque and Diane Bouchard. She met the love of her life, Yvon Delisle, in Roquemaure, Québec which led to 64 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they had 3 daughters, Lucie (Carol Chevrier), Pauline (Kevin Morton) and Patricia (Rocky Bolger). Also dear to her heart Eddy Delisle. She loved and was proud of her 6 grandchildren, Jonathan Chevrier (Jenny), Grant Morton (Sarah Hamilton), Chantal (Rommel Junta), Brock Bolger, Martin Chevrier (Heather Labow) and Jade Bolger (Brett Lewis). Marie-Paule cherished every moment when a new great-great- grandchild entered this world and would be delighted to spoil all of them.

Predeceased by her parents and siblings; Gertrude, Benoit, Rita, François, Thérèse Bolduc (Arthur), Paul-Emile and Simon. Left to grieve are her family members, Andréa (Jean Boucher, predeceased) Céline Delisle (Marcel, predeceased), Rosaire (Fernande), André (Marie, predeceased), Ange-Emma, Stella, nieces and nephews and extended family.

Sadly, missed by the Delisle family in-laws, and nieces and nephews. The family recognized the close bond that Marie-Paule had with Mariette Rheault and the frequent visits from Alphonse Delisle.

Marie-Paule completed her Bachelor’s degree at Laurentian University with two specialist studies thereafter and taught for over 33 years. Her pride in her school, students, and her shared passion for learning with many children over the years was something she was very proud of. She would often reminisce about her teaching years and the many laughs and experiences she had with her students and colleagues.

The simple pleasures in life brought her great joy. Knitting many teddy bears, sewing hundreds of Christmas stockings, creating beautiful patchwork tablecloths, painting with acrylics, and donating her creative crafts to church bazars are just a few samples of her hobbies. She enjoyed many summers at Lazy Daze, the family cottage, where everyone would gather and create everlasting memories. Marie-Paule made sure that everyone was well fed, that everyone had a comfortable bed to sleep in and that everyone felt more than welcome to visit. Socializing, playing cards, playing bingo, spending time with her beloved cat (Cocotte), having her glass of wine (well known to her as her Five Alive) and shopping with friends was part of her enjoyments in life.

Her long battle with kidney disease was a courageous one which she fought for many years.

It is with heavy hearts that the family would like to thank her doctors, Dr. Lawson who would always take the time to listen and visit her at home and Dr. Harmond and his team from the nephrology department at Health Sciences North. Special thanks to Jamie, Megan and Natasha. You all fulfilled your duties with extra care and compassion. The family would also like to thank the following service providers; Findlay Drug Store, Home and Community Care Support Services, Buffam Léveillé Funeral Home for the care and compassion shown to their mother.

Cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium, Haileybury. Marie-Paule’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home 705-672-3122 on Wednesday, June 29th, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 30th, 2022 at Paroisse Ste-Croix in Haileybury.

Donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Ontario Branch or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
