Obituary for Nova Joseph Maille

It is with profound sadness that the Maille family announces the passing of our father Nova Joseph Maille, peacefully at his home in New Liskeard on April 21, 2022 at the age of 85. He will be missed by his seven children - Bryan (Marisa) Maille, Victoria (Brent) Chatwin, Margot (Allan) Maille/Prudhomme, Michael (Maria) Maille, Laurelle (Mike) Hartley, Martin (Doris) Maille, and Paula (Andre) Ethier, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nova was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years - Beverley Ann, his daughter Novanna, his parents - Alfred and Rachelle Maille, 4 brothers, and 2 grandsons. He is survived by two sisters Muriel Bush and Charlotte Oyler. Nova and Beverley married at a young age, and started a family shortly thereafter. He worked for his father Fred in the bush behind Lady Evelyn Lake, and at Diamond Lake, and later chose to stay closer to home for his growing family. He worked for his father-in-law Lorne Woods at the Woods Hardware Store in New Liskeard before starting his own small business (Maille’s Service Centre) in 1964. Through the next 60 + years, the business grew and was successful in supplying many families with recreational products and fun throughout the seasons. Nova worked tirelessly to support his household, and well into his eighties he was still at Maille’s Service Centre. He enjoyed his summers at Twin Lakes, and was always on his chair overlooking the lake watching the boats go by, or in his garage tinkering. Nova was a community minded business man, and always supported local organizations, especially the New Liskeard Fall Fair which he supported and donated to annually. Nova was a great man and father, and he will be dearly missed. A special Thank you to Dr. Corbin and Nova’s caregivers: he truly appreciated the company and the help. Cremation will take place at Lakeview Crematorium, Haileybury, and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements for Nova are entrusted to Buffam Leveille Funeral Home, 705-672-3122. Online condolences accepted at www.buffamleveille.com. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity of your choice.
