Obituary for Ronald Edward Scriven

Scriven: Ronald Edward
It is our great privilege to announce that Ronald Edward Scriven is now on duty for his saviour in heaven. Ron was called peacefully to his new station with Jesus on Sunday morning, May 1, 2022. He was predeceased by his parents Raymond Edward and Bernice and will be sorely missed by his wife Heather Angel Scriven (nee Bayes), his brother Ken (Lee Ann) Scriven, his daughters Deborah June Scriven, Dawn (Gerry) Belanger and Cassie Ann (Greg) Visser. Also grieving are his 13 grandchildren Devin Edward, Megan, Tyler, Brandon, Andrew, Aggie, Eva, Skyler, Edith, Amanda, Katherine, Julie Anna and Tianna. The great grandchildren that will forever be missing his hugs are Chloe, Olivia, Emma, Kennedy, Adie, Izzy, Kyleigh, Cruz, Quincy, Jack, Romeo, Mariah, Mckayla and Kadence Grace.
Ronald was a man of honour and integrity; he was born and raised in Parry Sound on March 22, 1944 and graduated from Parry Sound High School, where he met his angel, Heather. He served his country in the Air Cadets and Air Force Reserves. He served the Ontario Provincial Police for 30 years in Burks Falls, Elk Lake and finally retiring from the Haileybury detachment. Unable to actually retire, Ron went to work for the Crown Attorneys office in Haileybury.

Ron was also a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, joining in 1977, during which time He made his way up from Legionnaire to the first non veteran President of Ontario Command. He then continued to Vice President of Dominion Command. During his service with the Legion he travelled to Bosnia, he was involved in bringing home the Unknown Soldier and participated in the opening of the Confederation Bridge in PEI. As if this was not enough, Ron and Heather owned and operated a 100 acres farm in Kerns Township, where they enjoyed every animal you can imagine. Dad was always so proud to have people stop in to see the babies. School groups and day cares would come for tours and they would give away fresh veggies to anyone who drove by. Ron was also proud to head the Christian Farmer Association for this area. He served his community being an elder for Bethel Gospel Chapel.

Ron was a devoted and faithful husband, he and Heather enjoyed 57 years of marriage. They worked hard, played hard, prayed hard and loved hard. Never have two meant more to each other. True soul mates.

Dad was…. everything, a firm hand, a gentle caress, he taught us to love faithfully, live honestly, be ethically strong and lose gracefully. He loved unconditionally and gave all he had and more. Dad was and forever will be…..our hero.

Poppa was cuddles and tickles, he was stories and wisdom. He was patience, never ending love and always the trickster. He will forever be remembered for generations to come.

Uncle Ron and Aunt Heather shared their home with multiple children and adults who will forever be grateful.

We, Ron’s family, would like to extend our sincerest thank you to the staff of the Tri Town Extendacare. You are fantastic!! Your expert care, concern and expertise are so very very appreciated!! Thank you, you made dads life, and ours all the richer.

Ronald Edward Scriven now resides in our memories, our hearts and best of all in heaven with his Lord and Saviour, singing hymns, asking a million questions and watching from above with love and pride at the legacy he left behind.
