Obituary

Lonsdale, Jeffrey Alan - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeff, on Thursday May 14, 2020 in North Bay where he resided, at the age of 71 years, following a lengthy illness with heart and lung disease.

Jeff was born on July 4, 1948 in Rouyn Noranda, QC to the late Genavive 'Betty' Mullen Lonsdale and to the late Victor Lonsdale. Jeff lived in Haileybury for most of his adult life. He sadly leaves behind his wife Carol of 53 years and his 3 children Cheryl (Pascal) of Huntsville, Tracy (Peter) of Fraserville and Steve (Brandy) of North Bay. Also left to mourn are his seven grandchildren Ryan, Katie (Scott), Taylor (Derek), Sarah (Dylan), Zach, Brittny, Chelsea (Jake) and his six great-grandchildren Kaydee, Braden, Elijah, Nadia, Allie and Hendrix. Jeff is also survived by his siblings Linda ('Finn' Muredach) Finnerty, Mike (Nan) Lonsdale, Doug (Judy) Lonsdale, Kathy (Jack) Bunjak, his brother-in-law Richard Bailey as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Jeff was Director of Business Information Systems at Northern Telephone Ltd where he worked for 34 years. He loved his work family and they loved him in return. Following his retirement in 2003, he found more time to enjoy boating, fishing, traveling, playing games and being involved with the Haileybury Lions Club and the Haileybury 54's hockey administration. He liked helping with his children's hockey, baseball, bowling and other activities. Above all Jeff enjoyed his family time.

In keeping with Jeff's wishes cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium, Haileybury. There will not be any visitation or service. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in Jeff Lonsdale's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Lung Association Temiskaming District [240 Shepherdson Rd. Unit 2, New Liskeard, ON, P0J 1P0] Condolences and contributions may be left at www.buffamleveille.com.

Dear Carol and Family,
News of Jeff’s passing was so sad. He was a dedicated and generous provider during your many years in Haileybury raising your children and welcoming your children’s friends to the house too. He was equally dedicated to helping his grandchildren when they were living in town during those years.
John and I spent a weekend with you and Jeff in the summer of 2018. You made us a picnic we took to the waterfront that glorious day and in the evening we four played Cribbage for hours. Jeff was very relaxed and quite funny at times! I cherish that memory.
It was a pleasure to attend his “Surprise” 70th Birthday at Roosters where we all shared a great time honouring Jeff.
Those memories will live on and serve to remind us of that special time with Jeff and you.
With love,
John and Nora
